​Our client, a luxury hotel near National Mall in Washington, D.C. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join the culinary team that's dedicated to providing exceptional dining experiences for our customers. In this position, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean work environment, and supporting our chefs in delivering high-quality dishes to our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and portion ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as required.

  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and chef instructions.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep area, including cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, equipment, and utensils.

  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients.

  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.

  • Support the kitchen team in preparing and plating dishes during service.

  • Monitor inventory levels and report any shortages or discrepancies to the kitchen manager.

  • Assist with additional kitchen tasks as needed, including dish washing and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar role in a restaurant or hotel kitchen preferred.

  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation methods.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.

  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
